Creating a local movement for true justice for children.

JJAI’s Mobilize and Empower Initiative equips those most impacted by the system – youth and families – to become allies for change.
Mobilize and Empower works with local volunteers, organizations and churches meets practical needs of the children in prison who come from marginalized communities. These efforts aim to equip and empower those most impacted by the justice system.

We connect local resources, including churches, youth associations, law schools, and other volunteers in the following activities:

Care Packages
Donating packets of soap, toothbrush and toothpaste, shampoo, towels, shoes and underwear for teens whose parents are unable to afford these basic items.
Family Reunification
Providing transportation for families in extreme poverty to visit their children and attend court hearings.
Family Committees
Organizing parents of children in detention and equipping them to advocate on behalf of their children.
Education
Present workshops and small groups for teens and parents – “Know Your Rights”, Physical & Emotional Health, and other classes using local volunteers.
Mentoring
Training community volunteers to visit children without families and develop one-on-one mentoring relationships.
Special Events
Organizing special events for teens and their families such as concerts, meals, recreational activities and special holidays.
